Wales drawn with England, Tonga & Zimbabwe for RWC2027

Wales have been drawn in Pool F at Rugby World Cup 2027

Wales have been drawn in Pool F along with England, Tonga and Zimbabwe for Rugby World Cup 2027.

Wales and England meet at a Rugby World Cup for the first time since 2015 when England were hosts.

This is the first time Wales have been drawn in a RWC pool with Zimbabwe, while the last time the two countries met in a Test match was during Wales’ summer tour in 1998.

Wales have not faced Tonga at a world cup since the tournament was last held in Australia in 2003.

Taking place in Sydney this morning the draw, made by World Rugby Chair and former Australia international Brett Robinson alongside former internationals Dan Carter, James Slipper and Alicia Lucas, randomly placed all 24 qualified teams into either Pool A, B, C, D, E or F.

The top two teams from each pool plus the four best third-placed teams will qualify for the knockout phase of the tournament.

The first-ever Men’s Rugby World Cup round of 16 will see the winners of Pool A, B, C and D play the four best thirds, winners of Pool E and F will face the runners-up from Pool D and B, with the runners-up in Pool A and C to meet the second-placed teams from Pool E and F.

Rugby World Cup 2027 is being hosted by Australia and will run for six weeks from 1 October-13 November, 2027. It is the first tournament with the expanded format contested by 24 teams over 52 matches.

The new expanded format featuring six pools of four teams, replaces the four pools of five teams that had been in place since Australia last hosted the tournament in 2003.

The full match schedule for Rugby World Cup 2027 will be announced on 3 February 2026.
