Blues winger Tom James says being selected to play for Wales against New Zealand is like winning his first cap all over again.

James confessed he thought his mates were playing a joke when he received a text informing him he had been selected.

But he then telephoned team manager Alan Phillips and found out his ambition to play for Wales again was about to be realised.

“When I was told I was in the starting line-up I was shaking like a leaf,” said James.

“It is like making my debut for Wales again and I can’t wait.”

James will win his 10thcap when he takes the field at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday to face the All Blacks.

He last played for Wales against England as a right winger but has now been selected in his favoured position on the left wing.

“I prefer the left wing but if I had to play on the right of course I would play there,” added James.

“I’ve just got to push on now and take the chance I have been given.

“New Zealand are probably the best team in the world and they have some outstanding players but I’ll give 110 per cent.

”It’s 57 years since Wales beat the All Blacks and it would be really nice if we can finish the campaign well on Saturday.”
