A first half try from prop Nathan Trevett had kept the Welsh region in touch with their hosts, who took the lead with a try from Samuele Pace, which Daniel Halangahu converted, while Robin Copeland was in the sin-bin.

The boot of outside half Ceri Sweeny then steered the visitors into the lead with penalties on 56, 68 and 70 minutes. Those strikes secured the much needed victory and there was further good news for Blues supporters when Mike Patterson emerged for his first appearance of the season off the bench in the second half.
