It was the Dragons’ third win in their last four PRO12 outings and the four points they earned on the road moved them up into ninth place. They are now 15 points shy of both the Scarlets and Cardiff Blues and have a game in hand over the Scarlets.
Naas Olivier kicked three penalties for the home side, who led 9-3 with just two minutes remaining in the game. Then came the penalty try in the dying seconds, awarded by Irish official Leo Colgan for a dominant scrum by the visitors.
The vital scrum came two minutes after Italian international hooker Fabio Ongaro had been sent to the sin-bin and the try made in 9-8. Up stepped Lewis Robling to take the conversion and over went the match winning points.
