Following losses for Cardiff Blues, the Scarlets and Wales this weekend the Ospreys looked set to fall to the same fate after trailing 10-6 at the interval.

But Scott Johnson’s men stormed back in the second-half at the Liberty Stadium and grabbed tries through Richard Fussell and Rhys Webb.

The Welsh region were missing 19 players due to a combination of Test match call-ups, Sevens duty and injuries but they still fielded seven internationals.

Diminutive star Matthew Morgan opened the scoring for the Ospreys on 21 minutes before former Connacht pivot Ian Keatley levelled the scored.

But Munster surged into the lead after Will Chambers grubber-kick fortuitously bounced off Jonathan Thomas and into the path of former All Blacks star Doug Howlett to score. Keatley converted before Morgan hit-back to enter the interval trailing 10-6.

But the Ospreys came out fighting in the second-half and snatched quick-fire tries through Fussell and Webb.

First Ian Gough released Webb, whose pass inside was knocked back by Denis Hurley for Fussell to pounce. Then Webb capitalised on Munster’s sleeping forwards by taking a quick-tap to score in the corner.

Morgan missed both conversions and Ronan O’Gara hit-back for the visitors but the Ospreys pivot made amends with a penalty as the hosts held on for the victory.
