The Dragons pulled out a commanding first half lead in which they led by an unanswered twenty points. They led Castres by 25-3, courtesy of tries from Richard Fussell, Craig Warlow, Ceri Sweeney, Jamie Ringer and Ian Gough.

After building this twenty-two point lead the home side took their foot off the gas, enabling the visitors to stage a comeback. Tries from Yann Fior and Romain Teulet, with two conversions courtesy of the latter, took Castres to within eight points of the Welsh Region.

However, a late penalty from Craig Warlow quelled fears of a French uprising and made the result safe, the victory meaning that the Dragons leapfrogged their opponents to third place in the Pool Three table.
