Despite leading at 9-8 half-time through a hat-trick of penalty goals from fly-half Nick Macleod, Wales U21 could not break clear and England U21 gained two tries through Mick Wood and Henry Barrett before Welsh fullback Ricky Williams sent wing Matthew Nuthall over in the corner.

However, England U21, leading at 16-14, clinched a victory when wing Marcel Garvey scored their third try that was converted by fly half Adrian Jarvis putting them clearly out of Wales U21’s range.
