The Dragons made light work of the Heineken Cup quarter finalists as they picked up their fourth league win of the season with a 21-10 success.
Tries from Joe Bedford and Aled Brew and 11 points from the boot of Jason Tovey proved more than enough to defeat an Edinburgh outfit that never looked like leaving for home with anything other than a sound beating.
Edinburgh made a lively start when Phil Godman’s second-minute penalty was followed by a yellow card for Dragons No8 Gavin Thomas but the home side refused to buckle despite the disappointing opening.
The Dragons rallied to end their 10-minute spell with 14 men 6-3 ahead thanks to two Tovey penalties, while Edinburgh saw Sean Cox sin-binned for successive foul play.
And while the Scots had failed to make the most of their one-man advantage, the Dragons were far more ruthless as Adam Hughes went close before Bedford burrowed over.
Brew, who this week announced his departure from the region at the season, then touched down five minutes before the break.
The Wales wing finished of a fine attacking move that began with the brute strength of Andy Tuilagi in midfield.
Brew was then denied a second score just moments later after Ashley Smith’s pass was ruled forward as the Dragons looked to put the game to bed before the interval.
Darren Edwards’ men failed to push on for a try-bonus point in the second period but they were never in any danger of missing out on a valuable victory that sees them leapfrog Connacht and brings them to within two points of tonight’s opponents with a game in hand.
