The first half-an-hour of the game was scoreless and the home side took a 6-0 lead into the break thanks to two penalties from Tom Heathcote shortly before the interval.
The Dragons had been brave in defence in the first half and briefly took the lead at the start of the second half when Matthew Pewtner crossed of the first try of the game. Jason Tovey added the conversion and all of a sudden the visitors’ were a point to the good.
But the lead didn’t last long as Heathcote stroked home his third penalty before Tim Visser charged down a Pewtner clearance kick before notching his second try of the season. Heathcote converted and the Dragons were back chasing the game.
A second Edinburgh try, this time from Dougie Fyfe, stretched the lead to 14 points and the game ended with Angus O’Brien and Heathcote swapping penalties.
