Tom Prydie handed the Dragons a glimmer of hope at salvaging a losing bonus point with all his team’s points against Benetton Treviso, including a well-taken second-half try.
But that consolation was denied when Harries was sent off for a second yellow card mid-way through the second-half and Tobias Botes crossed for a late try.
“We don’t have an argument with the red card because the two offences were both worth yellow cards,” said Dragons head coach Darren Edwards.
“When you’re on the back foot and go for things like an interception or come in at the side of the ruck, you’re going to come off second best if you don’t get them right.
“It was a shame because at the time we looked like we could have taken something from this game which I felt we deserved for all our effort.
“I’m proud of the way the players kept battling against a powerful pack full of internationals and I honestly believe we have turned a corner with our recent performances.”
Treviso led 20-6 at the interval thanks to tries from Edoardo Gori, Loamanu, and Luke McLean.
Prydie struck a brace of penalties but Christian Loamanu sealed a bonus point just two minutes into the second half.
Prydie then finished a sweeping move that involved ten separate pairs of hands only for Harries to collect his second yellow card to leave the Dragons starring down the barrel
And Botes struck at the death to compound the Dragons woes and leave the Welsh region empty handed.
