Cardiff Blues 30 Ospreys 24

The Blues ran out winners at the Arms Park thanks to first half tries from Nick Robinson and two by Ben Blair. They had to survive a ferocious comeback by the Ospreys, who at least prevented the Blues scoring a fourth try and picked up a losing bonus point of their own.

The Blues moved up to fifth place with the victory but regeratably picked up a red card in injury time when Martyn Williams was sent off for attempting to head butt Jason Spice.

Ben Blair assisted provided a large chunk of the Blues’ armoury scoring twenty-five of their thirty points, seven of which came from a blocked kick and a sixty metre dash to the line for the home side’s second try of the game.

The Ospreys produced a determined comeback in the second half clawing the deficit back to twenty-four points by crossing the Blues try line twice. However, they let two points slip by failing to convert one of those tries and in the end could only muster enough for a losing bonus point.

The end of the game was marred by two disciplinary incidents and the Blues finished the match with only thirteen men on the field as Mike Phillips was yellow carded to the sin bin, followed by his team mate Martyn Williams who received a red card immediately after.
