Wilson’s side boast a 100 per cent record in this year’s Six Nations and know a win over Scotland would set up a Grand Slam decider with England next Friday.
But as far as Wilson is concerned, the game with Scotland comes first and he is able to recall a number of players who have played regional rugby this season.
Harry Robinson and Steffan Hughes come into the side but Rhys Patchell is unavailable due to injury. Wilson though has reserved special praise for Ieuan Jones who starts at No. 8.
“We’ve been really impressed with Ieuan’s performances. He’s really kicked on from last year with the Dragons,” he said.
“He’s improved in a lot of areas with Rob Appleyard and I’m sure he’ll make an impact. He’s a real character in training and on the field and been in this group before from the World Cup.
“Maybe he didn’t play as much rugby as he’d have liked but I was impressed with his maturity to deal with that. He’s a great addition to our squad.
“His performances have definitely improved, he’s tightened up on a few things and that comes with age and exposure to games.”
Jones’ return means Wales skipper Ellis Jenkins moves to the blindside with Daniel Thomas completing the back-row.
Wilson added: “We’re really pleased with the five guys who have played regional rugby. I think it was the right call for them to play and I think it’s a credit to the system that we’ve got boys of that age starting regularly for their region. The experience and exposure they get from that is superb.
“Now they’re coming back into a group of players who have performed well and won three games on the trot so they have to perform well. We need to expose a number of new players with the World Cup in mind.”
Despite boasting a 100 per cent record, Wilson knows his side have areas to improve on. One of these is discipline – an area the squad have been working hard on all week.
“We’ve had far too many yellow cards in two games, we need to be able to keep 15 players on the field at all times,” he said.
“We’re working so hard in defence and against a better attack we might come unstuck. Discipline will be a big focus in this game as we hope to try and keep them out.
“Scotland are better now than they have been in recent years. They did well against Ireland and Italy and ran England close which is no mean feat. We know it’s going to be a real tough game.”
