Wales Under 20 wing Joshua Adams believes the 21-15 victory over England last weekend has given them the platform they need to be successful in this year’s Under 20 Six Nations.

Wales beat their English counterparts for the first time at Under 20 level at Parc Eirias last Saturday and Scarlet youngster Adams is confident his side can build on that win against Scotland tomorrow (Gala RFC, Friday, 5.55pm, S4C).

“We prepared very well for England, training went smoothly in the week and everything we put into place came off on Saturday night.

“We started the game well, keeping the ball for about 18 phases and got three points from our efforts.
“We knew England would come back strongly they scored a try from a scrum five metres out but even then we knew we had a good platform in place to come back at them. Unfortunately, they did score another try but even then we didn’t let our heads drop.

“We had a strong belief in ourselves.  At half time, we were only a point down so we knew we were right in it but that we had to come out strong and score first which we did.

“England’s discipline let them down with three yellow cards in total but our heavy defeat in Newcastle las year  was in the back of our minds, and the victory certainly went some way to wiping that out.

“The performance and win has given us a massive confidence boost ahead of the Scotland game and the rest of Six Nations. However, there won’t be any complacency. Conditions might be difficult, Scotland are very physical we will have to front up. Having said that, our forwards were excellent last weekend against a powerful England side and gave us backs a great platform.

“We only made three handling errors during the whole game against England which is exceptional – and we have to keep working on our skills going forward.

“It wasn’t a perfect performance and we have been working on certain areas – and we are determined to win again as good teams don’t just win once – but it was important to get off to a good start and build on that.”

Wales play at Netherdale, Galashiels at 5.55pm on Friday (13 March), with the match shown live on S4C.Tickets for the game are £10 for adults, seniors (aged 60+) £5, concessions FREE
