Wales flanker Lydiate delivered a huge boost to both his region and Wales when he returned against the Ospreys last Friday.
And while Wilson knows his side must win to maintain their play-off push, he has reserved special praise for the Wales flanker.
“Dan is such a good professional. He’ll have worked very hard and done everything he has to do in terms of rehab to make sure he’s back,” he said.
“From what I’ve seen of Dan, he gives 100 per cent. It’ll be no different tomorrow, he’s a talisman for the Dragons along with Toby Faletau and seeing those two guys on the team sheet is great for Welsh rugby.
“The occasion is fantastic and hopefully we’ll have a good crowd in. It’s a great concept and to give people the opportunity to play at the Millennium Stadium in a derby is fantastic.”
The Scarlets welcome back their Welsh internationals for the inaugural clash with Jonathan Davies, George North, Liam Williams and Matthew Rees all starting.
Tomorrow’s game will be Davies’ 100th for the region – a special milestone on a day which all four regions are looking forward to.
Head coach Simon Easterby said: “I think it’s a great initiative for regional rugby on the back of a successful Welsh rugby campaign in the Six Nations and it gives the opportunity to a wider set of rugby supporters to be part of a big match atmosphere at the Millennium Stadium.
“The boys have prepared well – it’s been an intense training week at Parc y Scarlets with plenty of competition to get into the starting XV.
“Those players coming into the side this weekend know they have a big responsibility to the shirt, to maintain momentum and back up the good work that the team has put in in previous weeks. The boys have worked hard in the last five games to keep us in a strong position for a play-off place and they deserve a lot of credit.”
Easterby’s side have won five of their last six matches in all competitions and got the better of Zebre in Italy last weekend.
He added: “It’s all very tight so we just have to concentrate on wining these four games ahead of us.
“We are in the mix and it’s great there is still so much to play for in the short amount of games left.”
With Lydiate amongst their ranks, the Dragons will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to the Ospreys.
They make a total of nine changes from the game at the Liberty Stadium with wholesale changes in the front five. Andrew Coombs will lead the side from lock with Faletau, Lydiate and Nic Cudd making up a strong back row.
Aaron Coundley, Hugh Gustafson and Dan Way all start in the front row with Rob Sidoli joining Coombs in the second row.
“I think it is a fantastic concept,” said head coach Darren Edwards when asked for his thoughts on Judgement Day.
“I was fortunate enough to play for London Irish in the first London double-header and every year it has grown.
“Coming to the Millennium Stadium, with the roof closed and lots of spectators, it should be a great occasion we can all embrace and enjoy.”
