Warren Gatland’s men have the chance to overcome the Australians for the first time in since 2008, when Wales survived a fight-back to claim a 21-18 victory in Cardiff.
But the men in red have struggled since, losing the last nine clashes with the Wallabies, who have recently seen Michael Cheika take the reigns as head coach.
Sam Warburton’s side have come so close in recent fixtures with the two-time World Cup winners – with just nine points separating the sides over their last four meetings. And McBryde has urged his side to break the shackles and play with freedom in a bid to go one step further this time around.
He said: “We’ve got to be water-tight defensively and put them under pressure. But we’re no different to the Australians in regard to the messages we are feeding to the players.
“We haven’t got a bad set of backs ourselves and we pose some real threats with our pack. It has given the boys the confidence to go out and try different things.
“Little flashes of brilliance can change games and that is certainly in us as Welsh rugby players and we can’t lose that spark. The players are under no illusions that if the scoring pass is on, they have to give it. Neil Jenkins and Rob Howley have reinforced the message to the backs to pick their heads up and play what’s in-front of them.”
George North will start at outside-centre as Jonathan Davies continues to recover from a shoulder injury and Leigh Halfpenny starts at full-back after being sidelined for the summer tour to South Africa.
Bath prop Paul James, who has featured in every game for Wales this calendar year, starts at loose-head alongside the returning Richard Hibbard and Scarlets tight-head Samson Lee.
Jake Ball packs down alongside Alun Wyn Jones in the second-row, whilst the back-row features British and Irish Lions trio Dan Lydiate, captain Sam Warburton and Number 8 Taulupe Faletau.
Cheika has made just two changes that suffered a heartbreaking 29-28 defeat to the All Blacks in Ewen Mckenzie’s final game in charge. Sean McMahon is handed an international debut in the absence of Scott Fardy to cap off an extraordinary year for the 20-year-old Rebel.
Cheika said: “I’ve been really pleased with attitude and commitment of the team and by how they have embraced a new environment and way of doing things.
“Everyone has worked really hard on preparing themselves in the best possible way, and we’re all excited about the opportunity to represent Australia and give our absolute best on Saturday.”
