RGC and Carmarthen Quins will battle it out for a quarter final spot in the Super Rygbi Cymru play-offs when they clash at Parc Eirias today (Saturday, 26 April).
The winners will earn the right to travel to Ebbw Vale next weekend in the last eight and join Thursday night’s other Wild Card victors, Bridgend, in the next phase of the knock-out phase.
RGC boast the tournament’s leading point scorer this season in Billy McBryde and will start as slight favourites given they have home advantage.
RGC should head into the match in confident mood after last week’s 59-38 home victory over Aberavon. They also beat the Quins 29-24 in north Wales in the regular league campaign in October, before going down to them 29-21 last month at Carmarthen Park.
The game will be the first of a double bill of rugby fare in Colwyn Bay with the North Wales Crusaders hosting Whitehaven in a near top of the table clash in the League One in rugby league’s pyramid structure.
