Courtney Greenway made a happy conversion from wing to outside half for Senghenydd to steer the Sirens to a comprehensive 57-14 win over Taffs Well in the WRU Women’s Bowl Final at Principality Stadium.
The Gwalia Lightning squad member was a cut above the rest in the #RTP25 showpiece and picked up the Go.Compare ‘Star of the Match’ award after running in a hat-trick of tries and ending with a match haul of 21 points.
Not far behind her in the ‘star’ status was the Senghenydd skipper Rafiuqe Taylor, who also helped herself to a hat-trick. A dual code international, she picked up a Bowl winners’ medal to go with the Cup winners’ success she enjoyed with Pontyclun Falcons in 2023.
Now 41, the Cardiff firefighter was first to score as she set the tone for her side with a 60-metre run to the posts. Greenway was next to score, followed by full back Kayley Smith, before Taylor did it again.

To their credit, Taffs Well showed fight from start to finish and were rewarded with a try from scrum half Louise Shanahan which was converted by her half-back Jade Edwards. It was Senghenydd who had the last word in the first half, however when outstanding No 8 Hollie Dempsey crossed to make it 36-7 at the break.
Greenway was even more devastating in the second Half, racing through from 70 metres out for her hat-trick try having increased her side’s lead four minutes after the re-start with her second. She converted both of her scores and then improved Taylor’s hat-trick try as the score rose to 57-7 just short of the hour mark.
Once again Taffs Well showed their resilience and commitment as they conjured up a second try from replacement Sarah Grant. Edwards once again converted.
Senghenydd will now turn their attentions to making it a league and cup double. With three games left to play in the East Wales League, they lead by a point having won all five games to date.
