Wales’s Grand Slam winning RBS Six Nations campaign has been analysed by the IRB’s Game Analysis Department.

Headed by former international referee Corris Thomas, rugby’s world governing body has produced a comprehensive statistical analysis of the 2008 RBS Six Nations.

The report considers how Wales bounced back from the disappointment of Rugby World Cup 2007 to win a second Grand Slam in four years, highlighting how a mean defence coupled with an ability to score tries from broken play proved to be a winning formula for Warren Gatland’s side.

The report analyses the performances of the other five teams during the campaign, throwing up some striking statistics, while looking at the major trends and contrasts from a fascinating tournament.
