Williams disappointed in defeat

Despite matching the All Blacks for territory and possession, Wales were punished for any balls they turned over and missed touch kicks by the ruthless All Blacks.

“It was nice to get my first try against the All Blacks, but we are desperately disappointed,” said Williams. “It shows just how good they are when you think what they have done to the French and English as well. You just can’t afford to play catch up against them. It’s not the kicks we missed, it is what they do with it; they hit us from all over the park.

“They are just so efficient at everything they do, they have put down a marker for everyone else and we will go away from this and become a better side. We have all got to improve on the clinical side of our game, that is what they do really well and that is where they are streets ahead of anyone else at the moment.”

As one of the best loose forwards in Britain, Williams said it was one of the toughest matches of his career: “Every breakdown you go to is hard work, it’s really tough and intense.

“You have no time to relax or think, you just have go for it every time and it sets the bar very high. We were disappointed with a few of the tries we conceded, we need to close down our defence. They have so much confidence and are on a high, this was probably the worst time to play them.”
