Yet Wales Coach Jenkins insists his team now know exactly what they need to work on ahead of the RBS Six Nations and ultimately, the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

Jenkins said: “What this game has shown are some of the deficiencies in our game that we need to work on over the coming months. We now know exactly where we stand in the world game and what we have to do to improve.

“We didn’t get any surprises from New Zealand. They are the best side in the world and proved that again here. Their ability to move the ball wide at pace was absolutely superb and was the difference between the two sides.”
