Ospreys off to winning start

The match was officiated by James Jones (WRU) and took place at midday at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport

 No conversions were successful in extremely blustery conditions, but that didn’t worry Jones, who said this match was good preparation for what will be an intense season.

“Although we decided this was not a match for the spectator as it was more about focussing on developing patterns and units in a match environment I am sure the benefit of this will be evident in our first few fixtures” he said.

 “This full contact fixture is an important part of our pre-season preparations and gave the guys a chance to impress in a competitive environment.

And Jones was pleased to watch some of his big-name players returning from long term injuries.

“Ryan (Jones) and Brent (Cockbain) came through the match with typical fighting spirit and it was a valuable exercise in blending the new players and those returning from long term injury back into the team.  As a group the players looked sharp and we are already looking forward to facing Harlequins in just over three weeks time
