DRAGONS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

DRAGONS 32 GLASGOW 18
Skipper Jason Forster bagged a record-breaking try double as the Dragons put Glasgow to the sword at Rodney Parade on Friday night.

The victory has virtually ensured the Dragons will at least face the third-placed Italian club in a play-off to compete in the Heineken Cup next season, if not earn direct qualification. The Dragons move to 41 points on the table, nine clear of Glasgow, meaning the Scottish side must win their final three games and hope the Dragons – who have four points coming from a “free weekend” – lose both of theirs to steal the play-off berth.

Outside-halves Craig Warlow and Dan Parks traded penalty goals to open the scoring, before backrower Forster took advantage of his side’s territorial dominance and the sin-binning of Glasgow lock Dan Turner to score a record 23rd and 24th Celtic League tries. He is now two clear of Scarlets centre Matthew Watkins on the all-time list.

Prop Adam Black powered over the try-line after some good work from fellow front-rower Rhys Thomas, and the Dragons took a match-winning 25-6 lead into the second half. Parks jinked his way over on the hour mark as the Dragons took their foot off the visitors’ throat with some bumbling play, but winger Aled Brew got things back on track with a bonus-point try under the crossbar.

Dragons centre Ceri Sweeney was binned for a high tackle, and Glasgow winger Colin Shaw dotted down to give the scoreline a measure of respectability.
