The new jobs on offer are Chief Executive of the Welsh Rugby Union Ltd, Chief Executive of Millennium Stadium plc and a Group Commercial Marketing Director and they will all become key figures in the new corporate structure voted for by the Union‘s 239 clubs at the EGM in May.

“I’m delighted that the Welsh Rugby Union is sticking to the time frame that was given to the clubs regarding changes in the way the game is going to be run in Wales,” said Moffett.

“My appointment was only the first step and, in many ways, the next phase is even more important. The three people we bring in to fill these key roles will become the hands on, day to day runners of the joint business of the WRU Group – the game as a whole and the Millennium Stadium.

“We are looking for quality people who can rise to a challenge. They must be passionate, dynamic and highly motivated.”

Moffett sets out his stall in the adverts, by giving applicants a clear indication of what he is looking for.

Rugby is going through an period of unprecedented and exciting change in Wales, both at professional and amateur levels. These positions offer unparalleled opportunities to influence the future of the WRU Group, further embrace the world-class reputation of the Millennium Stadium and break new ground for Welsh rugby,” it says in the advert.

“The successful applicants will need to be good team players and be able to develop a game plan around the following principles.

“OUR VISION – to restore Wales to the forefront of international rugby, both on and off the field;

“OUR PASSION – a steely determination to do whatever it takes to enhance the tradition, heritage and future success of Welsh rugby;

“OUR CORE VALUES – Support for the entire game; Passion for tradition and the future well being of Welsh rugby; Inspiration to succeed; Respect for each other; Influence at domestic and international levels; Teamwork – the essence of success for the future of Welsh rugby.”

The new Chief Executive of the WRU will take over the reigns from the current Secretary, Dennis Gethin, who is due to retire at the end of his contract in May. He will have “full responsibility for effective administration of the game of rugby in Wales” and will have to “prepare and ensure effective implementation of five-year rolling strategic plan, commercial strategy, annual business plans and budgets.”

The Millennium Stadium Chief Executive, who will work alongside the chairman, Glanmor Griffiths, will be charged with “designing and delivering a commercial strategy allowing a sustainable and profitable programme of sporting and leisure events”.

The Group Commercial Marketing Director will be responsible for “marketing and promoting Welsh rugby and the Millennium Stadium throughout and beyond the community” and will be asked to “maximise the commercial income of all WRU activities”.

“Welsh rugby is big business in Wales. The WRU Group has an annual turn over of nearly £34m and the benefits the national game and the Millennium Stadium give to Cardiff and Wales are enormous,” said Moffett.

“We need more professionals at the top to ensure we make the most of what we have got and enhance the image of our great game. This new team of professionals will be dedicated to delivering the highest standards to the Union’s clubs and will work alongside the new WRU Board of Directors.

“These are exciting and challenging times for everyone connected with professional sport and I expect to have a lot of high quality applications,” said Moffett.

The closing date for applications is 13 December and salaries are negotiable.
