They took the lead through an early try from full back Non Evans with Karen Mayze adding another after ten minutes. Welsh fly half, Awen Thomas converted to give the visitors a 12-0 lead. Llanelli continued to dominate the first half and Non Evans scored her second with an intelligent kick and chase past the UWIC defence.

Just before half time Evans scored her third bringing the half time score to 24-0. UWIC came out stronger after the break and Prop Catrin Edwards scored UWIC’s first points as she powered over the line.

Minutes later from the lineout, UWIC’s fly half Naomi Thomas got the ball out wide to Hayley Baxter who sped down the wing to score under the posts.
But Llanelli forwards displayed superb skills allowing the backs to play good running rugby and were rewarded with a try from No 8 Helen Edwards.

UWIC’s Scrum half Kerry Jenkins went off with an ankle injury with twenty minutes remaining but when play resumed, flanker Jenny Davies dived over to score for UWIC, which Naomi Thomas converted.

With ten minutes remaining, Hayley Baxter paced down the wing from within UWIC’s 22 and scored a brilliant try bringing the scores closer at 31-24.
But Llanelli responded with great passing between centre Karen Mayze and Non Evans which left Helen Edwards clear to run through for her second.

North Wales remain unbeaten after winning 14-7 against Pontypridd. Flanker Kylie Wilson scored the first try for North Wales but the Pontypridd second row equalised soon after. Pontypridd dominated possession but North Wales took their chances and Ellen Evans got the winning try ten minutes from the end.

Swansea were meant to play Newport in their second game of the league but the fixture has been rescheduled for October due to a clash with the English league. The third round takes place on 29th September when Llanelli host North Wales, Newport take on UWIC and Swansea play Pontypridd.
