Young Takes Over Top Job At Cardiff

David Young has taken over as Cardiff head coach after Rudy Joubert quit the top job at the Arms Park.
Joubert, who still had a year of his two-year contract to run, is returning
to South Africa to get involved in the Super 12 with an eye on the Springbok
coaching job in three years time.
Young, the former Wales captain and prop, who takes over with immediate
effect, said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new head coach. I have
had the opportunity to spend the last year assisting Rudy with the coaching
of the team and am looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
Joubert’s departure – “a great opportunity has arisen for me to be part of the Super 12” – came on the same day Wales’ cap record holder fly half Neil Jenkins returned to Pontypridd.
“We wish Rudy every success in his ambitions, he has been a great asset to
Cardiff in his year with the club,” said Cardiff Chief Executive Robert
Norster.
“He has set a platform, in the development of both players and coaches, and, although it has happened sooner than planned, we can go forward from here.”
