Welsh Clubs Represented In Toronto
Canada defeated the United States on Saturday by 26-9 in the first match of the final Americas qualifying group of the World Cup.
The win was gained by a Canada side that included seven players with experience in the Welsh Premier Division.
The entire front row of Jon Thiel (Bridgend), Pat Dunkley (Swansea) and Rod Snow (Newport) was backed by other pack members in the Cardiff duo of John Tait and Dan Baugh.
In the home backs were Nik Witkowski (Swansea) at centre and scrum half Morgan Williams, who has appeared for Cardiff.
The United States included the Llanelli forwards Luke Gross and Dave Hodges, with the latter skippering the side.
The Welsh presence was added to by touchjudge Nigel Whitehouse, who backed up referee Alan Lewis of Ireland.
The countries meet again in Chicago on July 13.
