Bonymaen Switch To Swansea
Bonymaen will not be playing their Principality Cup tie against Newport at their Parc Mawr ground on February 23, but instead will be using the Swansea Athletics stadium at the Morfa.
While there was a possibility at playing on Swansea RFC’s St Helen’s ground or even switching the match to Rodney Parade, the ground of Newport, the Swansea-based Division One club has opted rightly to cash in on the gate for the match.
“We were offered the Athletics stadium by Swansea Council,” said Bonymaenm president John Hague. “It is much better for car parking and could hold around 6,500 spectators, including 2,000 in the grandstand.
“There have been Rugby League matches held at the stadium, but never Rugby Union and it could the first and last on the current pitch as it will be altered for possible future joint use by Swansea’s rugby and soccer teams.”
