The latest goings-on in the world of Welsh rugby, as told across our digital channels…

Fans got another look at just how much blood, sweat and tears goes into a World Cup training camp. This video captured perfectly how Wales’ players were pushed to the edge in Switzerland across a fortnight of graft. Oh, and they’ve got it all to look forward to once again when they travel to Turkey next month…

Speaking from the training ground of Swiss football side FC Nater, the boss himself told us he’s pleased with how his squad is coping under intense conditions. Head coach Warren Gatland also spoke about what they can expect in Turkey, not to mention the importance of those Test matches against England and Ireland* before Wales fly to Japan.

We heard the story of Rhodri Davies, who was working as an electrician’s mate before applying to be a WRU Rugby Development apprentice. Whilst Rhodri now has his sights set on becoming a WRU Hub Officer, the WRU is looking for 12 young people who want to give something back to their communities via a 12-month Rugby Development Apprenticeship.

Luke and Dai Treharne became the latest siblings to represent Wales together. The studious brothers from Llanelli (Luke is a qualified doctor; Dai has just gained a degree in Architecture) turned out together at the Rugby Europe Men’s Grand Prix Sevens Series in Poland, with older brother Luke even setting Dai up for his first international try.

Owen Lane told us he’s endured the hardest physical training of his life in the Wales camp. The young wing from Cardiff Blues also discussed his friendship with Saracens-bound prop Rhys Carre, the only other new face in the World Cup training squad.

We showed our supporters a montage of images from the training camp in Fiesch and asked them to choose a song to go with it. Suggestions ranged from ‘Run to the Hills’ by Iron Maiden to ‘Hearts on Fire’ from the Rocky IV training montage. Both understandable.

*With fewer than 100 middle tier seats remaining for Wales v Ireland in the Under Armour Summer Series, fans are encouraged to get their tickets now for the match in Cardiff.
