Isla McMullen, one of seven players who featured in last year’s tournament, will captain Wales Women’s U18 squad at the 2025 U18 Six Nations Festival at Wellington College.
The PDC East and Coleg Gwent centre was one of four players from the U18 group that new Wales head coach Sean Lynn picked out to join in with training with his senior Six Nations squad. She was joined by Seren Lockwood, Shanelle Williams and Jorja Aiono, all of whom are included in the 28 strong squad.
Evie Hill and Chiara Pearce will vice captain the squad.
Former Wales skipper Siwan Lillicrap has already guided the U18s to victories over Italy and Scotland in warm-up matches for the Festival and was able to run the rule over 37 players across the two games.
Wales kick-off with two 35 minute matches against France and Scotland on Friday 11 April and then meet England and Italy on Tuesday 15 April. Their one full match, played over 70 minutes, will be against Ireland on Sunday 19 April.
There are 19 players that represented PDC East in the U18 Development block in the squad, including 11 from Coleg Gwent, while four are from the North and five from the West. Charlie Williams, from Churcher’s College in Hampshire, is the only Welsh Qualified Player who has been brought in from England.
“It has been a great build up to the tournament for us. We’ve looked at a lot of girls, given them all valuable game time against Italy and Scotland and we are in pretty good place as a squad heading to Wellington College,” said Lillicrap.
“Last year in Colwyn Bay we ended on a high with a 41-22 win over Italy. We also beat Scotland (12-0), ran England close (26-14) and fell to Ireland (14-5) and France (31-12).
“We have a really strong group and it feels as though we are better prepared and further advanced in our game compared to last season. This is testament to the players and the work they have put in throughout the season. The Six Nations is going to be a real step up from the warm-up matches, but invaluable experience for the girls. and we can’t wait to get going.”
Taufa Tuipulotu, one of six students from Hartpury College, is the younger sister of senior Welsh international Sisi Tuipulotu.
