Lillicrap's U18s ready to step up against England and Italy at Six Nations Festival

Wales U18 in action against France

Isla McMullen and Amelia Bailey will lead the Wales Women’s U18 teams into action on Day 2 of the Six Nations U18 Festival at Wellington College on Tuesday 15 April, when they will face host nation England and Italy.

The Welsh girls kicked off their campaign last week with a 43-0 defeat to France and then a 21-7 triumph over Scotland. The matches are played over 35 minutes.

“We’re all excited to face two different types of opposition in our second game day and, of course, we start with England,” said Wales U18 head coach Siwan Lillicrap.

“We’ve changed things up slightly in selection to try out different combinations and to give everyone an opportunity. We certainly want to see improvements from Game Day 1.

“We didn’t feel we demonstrated what we are capable of against France and Scotland, but we are 100 per cent ready for the next challenges.

“We’ve had a couple of great training days in the build-up and having already played against Italy in a warm-up match we need to go into that fixture with confidence.”

England managed a 28-5 win on Game Day 1 over Italy and then went down to a 21-0 defeat to Ireland. The Irish, who will play Wales in a full 70-minute match on Friday, also beat Italy 29-7.
