Robson back in action for Dragons in Celtic Cup

Former Wales U20 outside half Arwel Robson will finally return to a Dragons starting line-up when he plays in the Celtic Cup clash with Scarlets A in the Celtic Cup at Rodney Parade on Saturday (kick-off 1.00pm).

Robson has been out of action since December after suffering a hamstring injury in training that required surgery. Now the 22-year-old is all set to make up for lost time as he gets ready to battle with Sam Davies and Josh Lewis for the No 10 shirt this season.

Dan Babos will feed him from scrum half, while the Dragons line-up sees recalls for Carwyn Penny, Connor Edwards and Joe Goodchild. Tom Hoppe makes his first appearance in the competition, which has seen the Dragons beat Munster A and go down to Blues A at the Arms Park.

“There were positives to take from the Cardiff Blues fixture and now it is about how we respond to that game back on home soil. A number of young players who missed out last week are back in the mix and eager to impress,” said Dragons A coach Luke Narraway.

There will be an interesting back row battle between Wales U20 stars Taine Basham, in the home ranks, and Jac Morgan, who will lead the Scarlets. Wales international Tom Prydie starts on the wing for the visitors, while Jonathan Evans is at scrum half.

The Ospreys, beaten 55-14 at Parc y Scarlets last weekend, will be hoping to follow on from the win by their U18 team over Cardiff Blues when they host them at the Brewery Field. Former Wales U20 captain Will Jones starts in the back row for the home side and will go up against his former international team mate Jim Botham.

The Blues have included Wales U18 prop Theo Bevacqua in the front row and have two players in their squad who featured in that U18 game earlier in the week in Rhys Anstey and Theo Cabango.
