Div One West Round-Up

Maesteg claimed a 24-15 win over mid-table rivals Carmarthen Athletic in a game which will be remembered for four yellow cards handed out to the home side.

A try from Nathan White and a penalty from Robert Evans had helped Maesteg to a 10-8 half-time lead, despite referee Greg Morgan brandishing yellow cards to Steve Tremlett and Paul Clapham for killing the ball.

DFP – Leaderboard

Tries from Chris Bowridge and Rhodri Milson put the game beyond Carmarthen after the break, before sin-bins for Dean Ronan and David Dyer saw Maesteg reduced to 13 men for 10 minutes in the closing stages.

Div One East Round-Up

Two tries each from Nathan Powell and Wesley Cunliff saw Newport Saracens leap off the bottom of the table with a shock 32-24 win over league-leaders Newbridge.

The result allowed Blackwood to take the reins at the top of the table with a 43-13 win over the students of UWIC.

In the two remaining games Ystrad Rhondda ran in five tries to beat Bargoed 41-8 and Llanharan came out 28-22 winners against strugglers Penalta thanks to tries from Lee Thorne, Aled Llewellyn and Lee Davies.
